After ordering a SSL certificate with InterSSL, you have to place a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) which we will send directly to GeoTrust. Typically the CSR creation process will be performed within the panel of your webspace provider or with the software of your server (e.g. some linux commands). Alternatively, you can let InterSSL create a CSR / private key pair for you directly within the "myInterSSL" panel.
In order to prove you are the legitimate owner of the domain you are requesting the SSL certificate for, an authentication email will be sent to one of multiple addresses (e.g. admin@yourdomain.com, administrator@, hostmaster@, webmaster@, postmaster@). It is obligatory to receive and approve this email. Authentication is also required for re-issuing an certificate (e.g. after switching servers). As soon as the auth-email has been approved, the SSL certificate will be delivered. - Typically within 2 minutes directly via Email from GeoTrust.
In some rare cases GeoTrust will select a certificate for manual inspection. This is for security and will more likely happen for domains from financial or government sector. In these cases the certificate will typically be delivered within 24-48 hours during workdays. If your certificate does not get delivered within a few minutes, please don't hesitate to contact us. In most cases we were able to speed up the manual inspection process.
